Tefal Cooking Appliances IntroductionTefal was founded in Sarcelles, France, in 1956. The name is an amalgamation of TEFlon and ALuminium, and refers to the non-stick coating that Tefal pans are famous for. By the late sixties, Tefals non-stick pans had become enormously successful, and Tefal was the leading cookware manufacturer in France. In 1968, Tefal was acquired by the domestic appliance manufacturer SEB, and over the next two decades Tefal diversified its product range to include a variety of kitchen appliances, including sandwich toasters, irons and kettles. During this time Tefal continued to build on its previous success, and was responsible for various innovations in along the way, including the first coolwall plastic deep fryer in 1987. Tefal has grown over the years to its present position as the world-leader in non-stick cookware, and is also a major producer of a wide range of electrical kitchen appliances.
