Rowenta– Introduction

Robert Weintraud founded Weintraud & Co in 1884, and this company later launched the Rowenta brand. Back then, the products on offer were very different, and it wasn’t until the twenties that household appliances such as irons, kettles, coffee makers and toasters became part of the Rowenta range.

Rowenta launched its thermostat iron in 1949, and produced the very first steam iron eight years later, followed by the first Rowenta vacuum cleaner in the early seventies.

In 1975 Rowenta set its sights on the UK, and over the following years the company changed from being a division of Sunbeam UK to becoming a well-known and trusted brand name, known for the stylish designs and innovative features of its products. With its continued progress and expansion, Rowenta enjoyed many ‘firsts’, including the first tap water iron and coolwall toaster.

Rowenta’s high quality standards and innovative designs continue to characterise its appliances, making them a favourite with consumers, and ensuring a successful future for the brand.
