Rival Cooking Appliances IntroductionRival was founded in 1932, and began producing small appliances in Kansas City, Missouri. The company introduced a line of o-matic products for the kitchen, beginning with a juice extractor. The range grew over the following years, and in 1945 Rival was the first company to bring out an electric can opener. Rival introduced a larger range of electric products throughout the fifties, and in 1971 the company developed the modern slow cooker, also known as the crock pot. In the early seventies, Rivals slow cooker became increasingly popular and won 14th place on Home Furnishing Newss most important home appliance list. In 1999, Rival joined other well-known names to become part of the new Holmes Products group. The Original Crock Pot Slow CookerIn 2001 the Rival Crock Pot Slow Cooker was 30 years old, and to mark the occasion the company released a limited edition model. Rival continues to build on its success by producing excellent products with an emphasis on quality and convenience, such as the new Smart Pot slow cooker, which is programmable and simple to use.
