Kenwood Cooking Appliances IntroductionEntrepreneurs Kenneth Wood and Roger Laurence established Woodlau Industries in 1947, and set up manufacturing premises the following year. Laurence soon left, and the companys name was changed to Kenwood in 1948. In 1968, Kenwood was sold to Thorn Industries Ltd. In 1989 the Kenwood management bought the company back from Thorn EMI, and then floated it on the London Stock Exchange as Kenwood Appliances PLC three years later. Kenwood has since continued to expand; it acquired Waymaster in 1993 and Ariete in Italy in 1994, and in 2001 Kenwood became part of the DeLonghi Group, further reinforcing its international presence.
