Cuisinart Cooking Appliances – Introduction

Cuisinart was founded in the early 1970s by American engineer Carl Sontheimer. Sontheimer visited France in 1971 and was inspired by his love of French cuisine to develop the original ‘Cuisinart’ food processor, which provided the foundation of the company. After its launch in 1973, the Cuisinart food processor became a favourite of both the public and of chefs all over the States.

The personal care appliance company Conair acquired Cuisinart in 1989, giving Cuisinart excellent new opportunities for growth. The company moved forward to produce other top of the line kitchen products, including toasters, rice cookers, waffle makers and slow cookers, with all the class and expertise you would expect from the Cuisinart brand name.

In keeping with its reputation for excellent quality products, Cuisinart picks its outlets carefully, preferring to make their appliances available only through the best specialist retailers of kitchen equipment, rather than selling via mass market stores.

Today Cuisinart is a market leader in the US, and the brand is also becoming increasingly popular in the UK. 2002 also saw Cuisinart focus its attention back to France, where it works in conjunction with renowned chef Paul Bocuse and continues to produce some of the best appliances that the market has to offer.
